After a lengthy career as a university professor of English and American literature, in Saskatchewan, Minnesota, Massachusetts, Sudbury and North Bay, Bill turned his old hobby of film making into something more engrossing, and executive produced a feature film in 2006, That Beautiful Somewhere, shot in Temagami and North Bay, starring the well-known Canadian actor Roy Dupuis. It was a very loose adaptation of Bill's novel Loon. It was shown in select theatres in Canada, was published in DVD in Canada and the USA, and landed TV contracts in Canada, England, South America, Russia, and recently, mainland China.
