War Memorial
The North Bay War Memorial came about from an idea proposed in 1918. At that time, Municipal Park and trees were dedicated to individuals killed in the war. In early March of the following year, it was decided that the money needed for the memorial would be raised by public subscription and grants from the City's council. The actual plan and design of the monument was submitted by the Agriculture and Parks Committee. In August of 1920, the "Soldiers Memorial Fund" was created and was started with $200 collected from license fees from the circus. It was decided that 20% of all license fees and fines would be allocated to the fund. The "Great War Veterans Association" would oversee to the fund.
