Leah N.H. Philpott
About
Leah is an actor/performer originally from Newfoundland. She loves to laugh and in turn loves to give the gift of laughter to others. Caught up in the world of acting since the age of 12, she attended York University to study Theatre even though she already knew that Film would be her career of choice. In Montreal she worked on several films and large theatre productions to raise money for sick children. Since moving to North Bay in late 2007 she has enjoyed keeping her skill alive by working with the Gateway Theatre Guild on numerous projects including Girl in the Goldfish Bowl for which she was awarded Best Actress in a Leading Role from the Quonta Festival in 2011. More recently Leah has been focused on her film career and was able to snag a full time position, behind the scenes, with Kids in the Hall which not only taught her priceless information about the world of film making, but also later lead to her winning a featured spot in the mini-series which aired on CBC in 2010. Leah also plays roles in the upcoming Canadian Docudrama Harold and Lorna and the Sudbury-filmed movie The Truth, acting alongside Canadian Actor Kim Coates. The film also stars Andy Garcia, Eva Longoria, and Forest Whitaker. Theatrical release is expected for summer 2012. While Leah pursues other film opportunities she is currently keeping herself busy working on Short films and also on getting her own writing into production. Keeping busy with what you love is simply a gift from God. When it comes to Acting, Leah feels the busier the better and is always looking for new faces and minds to collaborate with creatively. If you have a creative project or idea and would like to contact Leah, emails are always welcome.
